FAQs
Answers to common questions about sessions, payments, and telehealth
What are the fees?
The first appointment is an initial assessment session of 75 minutes, and the fee for this initial session is $440. Ongoing appointments are 50 minutes, and the fee for these sessions is $320.
My fees for new clients reflect both time in session and associated clinical work, and are in line with current professional fee recommendations, with Australian Psychological Society (APS) suggesting around $318 and Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) around $330 for a standard 40–60 minute consultation in 2025–2026.
Are Medicare rebates available?
If you have a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or psychiatrist, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Rebates are approx. $141 per session. You will need to provide a copy of your referral letter if you would like the rebates to be processed automatically on your behalf.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Some private health insurers offer rebates for psychology sessions. Eligibility and rebate amounts depend on your individual policy. Please check directly with your insurer about whether Clinical Psychology telehealth services are covered and what rebate may apply.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payment is due on the day of your appointment. If you prefer, payment can be processed automatically by providing your card details on the intake form. For card and online payments, a surcharge set by the payment processor is added to the session fee and passed on at the rate charged by the provider. If you would rather not use a card, alternative options such as direct deposit or a payment link can be arranged.
How does telehealth work?
Sessions are held online via a secure video platform. You will need a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Before your first appointment, I will send you simple instructions on how to join your session.
Is telehealth right for me?
Many people find telehealth convenient and effective, particularly if they have work or family commitments, live in a regional area, or prefer to attend sessions from their own space. Telehealth may not be suitable in all circumstances, such as if someone is severely depressed or suicidal. if you are unsure if it will be appropriate or suitable for you, you are welcome to enquire so we can consider together whether this format is appropriate for your needs.
The longer initial session allows time to understand your current difficulties, gather relevant background information, and begin to clarify goals for therapy. The first session focuses on understanding your current difficulties, your background, and what you would like to work on. We will clarify your goals, discuss whether this service is likely to be a good fit, and begin to outline an initial plan for our work together. There is no obligation to continue if it does not feel right for you.
What can I expect in the first session?
Session frequency depends on your needs and circumstances. Many people start with weekly or fortnightly appointments, and this may be adjusted over time. We will discuss and agree on a plan together.
How do I enquire about availability?
I keep a limited caseload to support thoughtful, consistent care, so availability for new appointments may be limited at times. If you would like to ask a question, check current availability, or see whether this service is likely to be a good fit, you are welcome to submit an enquiry via the contact form. I respond to enquiries on weekdays and will usually get back to you within 4–5 business days.
This practice is not able to provide crisis or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or require urgent support, please contact emergency services (000), your local mental health crisis team, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can still enquire about ongoing therapy once you are safe.
For ongoing clients, I offer email contact between sessions where possible and appropriate. This may include support with between-session therapy ‘homework’ or clarifying questions about what we are working on. We can discuss what feels appropriate and how this is managed in the context of your therapy.
Because appointment times are reserved specifically for you, a minimum notice period of 48 hours is required to cancel or reschedule a session. Details of the current cancellation policy, including any fees that may apply for late cancellations or missed appointments, will be provided when we arrange your first appointment.
